Trainers astounded as carer achieves five qualifications in four months!

When our Alexandra Nursing Home’s Brambles Unit carer, Priscilla, asked the Bayswood Care Training Team on 31st October 2023 if she could do her level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, no one thought she would complete the qualification in under four months.

This is a remarkable achievement, and the Diploma caps the other qualifications Priscilla (pictured on the right) gained at the same time as doing her Diploma:

·        Level 3 Award in Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005

·        Level 3 Award in Awareness of Dementia

·        Level 2 Certificate in Oral Health and

·        Level 2 Certificate is Safe Handling of Medication

The speed of these attainments is unprecedented in the experience of the training team, who have been amazed by Priscilla’s dedication to learning.

That's an incredible five qualifications, achieved in only four months!

Each qualification has been completed to a very high standard, with Priscilla stretching herself to learn and develop her knowledge and skills within care. She has shown a great dedication to her development, and to the values of Bayswood Care – being passionate about providing quality care to residents.

Bayswood’s Training Assessor, Joanne Ainsworth says, ‘In my 16 years of assessing learners, which includes working for one of the country's largest training providers and an OFSTED outstanding college, I have never encountered a learner who has achieved five qualifications in four months.’

Joanne goes on to say, ‘Priscilla speaks enthusiastically about person-centred values and, when I have observed her, she has been focused on ensuring the best outcomes and care for the residents within Brambles – even supporting and encouraging other staff to be mindful of the needs of residents. Priscilla is open and friendly, making her approach to residents and colleagues exemplary. Yesterday Priscilla asked me if she can complete her level 4 Diploma because she wants to progress in her job role at Alexandra and commit long-term to the company.’

Training is a key focus at the Bayswood Group, which boasts four members of its in-house training team and a training suite at its Park View Nursing Home. Group Quality and Assurance Manager, Adam Purnell, says, ‘A key value at Bayswood Care is to be curious, which feeds into our vision of making the Group an industry leader in qualification attainments. We want our team to be the best in the care sector!’
